Laura has spent most of her life in New Jersey, growing up in Bergen County. Laura earned a BA, MS, and PhD in psychology from Rutgers University, and worked first at Rutgers and then at the University of Pennsylvania as an academic and neuroscientist. In her research, Laura used various approaches to investigate the neurobiology of drug addiction. In 2011, Laura left academics and returned to school to earn an MSW. Laura joined Corner House as a full-time clinician in 2017. At Corner House, Laura works collaboratively with adult clients who are experiencing substance use and co-occurring conditions to find their path to recovery and a fulfilling life. Given the strong link between early relationship trauma and the development of addiction, one important and fruitful therapeutic approach Laura employs in this work focuses on healing underlying trauma. This work employs a variety of approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Laura has a Level II EMDRIA certification in EMDR.
